Request for public meeting prior to Hope Creek restart Hello Randy:

Attached is a letter requesting that the NRC conduct a public meeting prior to the Hope Creek restart.

At the public meeting in January 2005, the NRC told us that the vibrating B recirc pump had not resulted in the inoperability of any safety-related components. That assurance no longer appears true with the recent thru-wall leak from a connection to the vibrating B recirc pump.

The public deserves to be updated on the NRC's revised logic for allowing this troubled reactor to continue operating despite numerous warning signs.

Thanks, Dave Lochbaum Nuclear Safety Engineer Union of Concerned Scientists 1707 H Street NW Suite 600 Washington, DC 20006-3962 (202) 223-6133 (office)
