SUMMARY

OF THE FEBRUARY 22, 2005 PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS LICENSEE PERFORMANCE AND PLANNED ACTIVITIES AS PART OF THE MANUAL CHAPTER 0350 PROCESS AT THE DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION On February 22, 2005, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Davis-Besse Administration Building in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The meeting was between the NRC Davis-Besse Oversight Panel and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) to discuss licensee performance and planned activities as part of the Manual Chapter 0350 process at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. The NRC began the meeting with an assessment of recent performance at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant. The NRC discussed recent activities at Davis-Besse which included Mid-Cycle Outage Inspections and Activities, Problem Identification and Resolution Inspection, and Review of the Operations, Corrective Actions, and Engineering Independent Assessment Results. At the conclusion of the NRC remarks, FENOC presented an overview of significant items being worked on at Davis-Besse. FENOC discussed the accomplishments during the Steam Generator Inspection Mid-Cycle Outage, results of the Engineering Programs and Safety Culture/Safety Conscious Work Environment Independent Assessments and the 4th Quarter 2004 Nuclear Quality Assessment Report. The NRC concluded the meeting by discussing that the plant is operating safely and that additional oversight and inspection will continue according to the IMC 0350 process at Davis-Besse.
