Dear Ms. Davis:
Thank you for your letter of November 26mi, sfiihowe received on December 6th, regarding the above-referenced project.
P Over the last year, our office has been working with Progress Energy Carolina's (PEC),
staff at the H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, No. 2 to develop a guidance document for the preservation of historic, cultural, and archaeological resources. This document was initiated as part of the renewal process for PEC's Operating License with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Please find enclosed a copy of our last letter to Jan Lucas at PEC.
It is our understanding that as part of the main facility at H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant No. 2 near Hartsville, the Spent Fuel Storage Installation will employ the guidance document that has-been developed for the larger plant. Further, our correspondence with Ms. Lucas and our comments on the guidance document for license renewal constitutes consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, as amended. No independent consultation with the Spent Fuel Storage Installation should be necessary. If you have questions, please call me at (803) 896-6169.
