NOP LP-2001-01 Davis-Besse CON DITION REPORT 02-01523r

.0200D523 TITLE: RCP 1-1 AND RCP 1-2 LEAKAGE AT GASKET DRAIN LINES DISCOVERY DATE TIME I EVENT DATE TIME SYSTEM I ASSET#

211612002 2100 2116/02 2100 064-03 P36-1, P36-2 EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION Reactor Coolant Pump 1 and 2 DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION and PROBABLE CAUSE (if known) Summarize any attachments. Identify what, when, where, why, how.

O During the performance of DB-PF-03065, Pressure and Augmented Leakage Test, inner casing R

gasket leakage was observed from RCP I and ROP 2 via the respective casing gasket collection system. This is a drain line between the inner and outer casing gaskets. The intent of the pressure G;

test is to verify an operable leakage collection system. This was acceptable, however leakage was I

observed.

N Inner gasket leakage on RCP 1-1 was.01 gpm and on RCP 1-2 was.03 gpm. This condition does A

not reflect actual leakage because a visual examination of all RCP casing bolting indicated no T

6xternal leakage or boric acid residue. Note: This test occurred at a RCS pressure of 893 psig I

during RCS shutdown. The system was in a temperature transient See Work Order 01 -01308, O

performed on 2125102, for documentation of visual examination. Similar leakage via the leakage N

collection pathway was observed in 12RFO.

This correction report Is being generated to ensure adequate review of this leakage, to address operational readiness issues, and to justify/plan RCP inner and outer gasket replacement. To date, there are no operability issues associated with this leakage.

IMMEDIATE ACTIONS TAKEN I SUPV COMMENTS (Discuss CORRECTIVE ACTIONS completed, basis for closure.)
