Docket No.50-390 Tennessee Valley Authority
)
Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (WBN) Unit 1 -
Technical Specification (TS) Change No. 02 Withdrawal of Proposed License Amendment Request (TAC MC2292)
Reference:
TVA Letter to NRC, "WBN Unit 1 -
TS Change No.
02 Spent Fuel Pool Radiation Monitors," March 10, 2004 The referenced letter submitted a proposed license amendment request to change the Technical Specifications (TS) for WBN Unit 1. The amendment would have revised the allowable value as shown in TS Table 3.3.8-1, "Auxiliary Building Gas Treatment System (ABGTS) Actuation Instrumentation," for the Spent Fuel Pool Radiation Monitors.
On May 25, 2004, a Request for Additional Information (RAI) was provided via email regarding this amendment.
During the research to provide the RAI response, TVA discovered a latent problem within the design calculation that had provided the basis for the new SFP Monitor's allowable value.
This latent problem has been entered into TVA's corrective action program.
Further research indicated that the existing TS value would be adequate and that no revision to the allowable value would be necessary.
Accordingly, the referenced license amendment request is hereby withdrawn.
