WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT (WBN) UNIT 1 -
BULLETIN 2003 POTENTIAL IMPACT OF DEBRIS BLOCKAGE ON EMERGENCY SUMP RECIRCULATION AT PRESSURIZED-WATER REACTORS -
CORRECTION (TAC NO.
MB 9360)
The purpose of this letter is to correct a statement in TVA's response to the subject bulletin for WBN dated August 8, 2003.
In the response to Item 5, "Ensuring containment drainage paths are unblocked," third paragraph, a statement was made regarding drains in Accumulator Rooms 3 and 4 that "Both of these floor drains are protected by a screened enclosure."
It was recently identified that screens did not cover the drains in those rooms.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the screens had previously been deleted from the plant design and were never installed.
In lieu of screens, the drains had been rerouted away from the containment sump screens.
This feature has been re-evaluated and has been determined to remain acceptable.
Therefore, TVA does not plan to install screens over these drains.
There are no commitments identified in this submittal.
If you have any questions concerning this correction, please contact me at (423) 365-1824.
