SUMMARY
OF MARCH 25, 2004, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH DOMINION NUCLEAR CONNECTICUT On March 25, 2004, at 4:00 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at Waterford Town Hall, Waterford, CT, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Dominion Nuclear Connecticut (Dominion). The NRC requested the meeting with Dominion management to discuss NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Millstone Nuclear Power Plant for calendar year 2003.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Millstone Units 2 and 3 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2003. The NRC presentation included background on both plants, performance assessment results, an overview of calendar year 2004 planned inspections and oversight, and a discussion of general NRC issues. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Dominion presented an overview of their performance in the areas of Operations and Engineering.
The public observed this meeting and was offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding Dominions performance at Millstone and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and Dominion, the NRC answered questions from the public, including the Connecticut Nuclear Energy Advisory Council (NEAC), for approximately one hour.
