MCDERMOTT, B S R1 (610) 337-5233 BJM@nrc.gov Discussion:
The Region I Emergency Response Organization was in the Monitoring Mode from 4:40 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003, through 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2003, based on the New York area blackout and its effect on seven operating reactors in the Northeast. Regional management and staff continued to monitor the affected sites throughout the weekend, with 24-hour inspector coverage at several locations. As of 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2003, six of the seven reactors in Region I had returned to full power operation or were in the process of power ascension.
