SUMMARY
OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS TO SUPPORT REVIEW OF THE DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION Environmental scoping meetings were conducted to support the review of the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3 (Dresden) license renewal application submitted by Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon). The public meetings were conducted in the afternoon and evening on Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Jennifers Garden and Convention Center, in Morris, Illinois. Approximately 90 people attended the meetings, including the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) environmental review teams, members of the public, representatives from Exelon, and State and local government officials. There were a total of 32 members of the public and local government officials who provided comments (13 at the afternoon meeting and 19 at the evening meeting). Comments were in support of, and opposition to, license renewal.
Additional topics discussed included emergency preparedness, environmental justice, the incidence of cancer in the local area, and spent fuel storage. Enclosures 1 and 2 contain the official corrected transcripts for the afternoon and evening sessions. Enclosure 3 is a copy of the overhead slides used in the NRCs presentation.
