In accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(w)(3), Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L), now doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., and Florida Power Corporation (FPC), now doing business as Progress Energy Florida, Inc., hereby submit information regarding the present level and source of onsite property damage insurance at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. I and 2, the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 1, the H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit No. 2, and the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating Plant. This information is required to be submitted to the NRC by April 1 of each year.
CP&L and FPC have in full force and effect with Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited (NEIL), primary
_---nuclear property-insurancefor-each reactor site, in-the-amount of $500 million which expires-April 2003.
This coverage is renewed effective April 1, 2003, for the period of April 1, 2003, to April 1, 2004.
CP&L also has in full force and effect with NEIL, excess nuclear property insurance in the amount of
$2 billion for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2, and $2 billion for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 1. Combined with the primary coverage the total limit is $2.5 billion for each site. Excess nuclear property insurance for the H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit No. 2, and the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating Plant is provided by CP&L and FPC in the amount of $1.1 billion each. Combined with the primary coverage the total limit is $1.6 billion for each site. The excess coverage is in effect for the period of April 1, 2002 to April 1, 2003, and is renewed effective April 1, 2003, f6r the period April 1, 2003 to April 1, 2004.
