VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NO. MB7986)

Dear Mr. Byrne:

By letter dated June 27, 2002, you applied for an amendment to the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Facility Operating License No. NPF-12. The proposed change would have modified the facility technical specifications pertaining to a revision to add an Allowed Outage Time to Table 3.3-3, Engineered Safety Features Actuation System Instrumentation, Action 16.

Subsequently, by letter dated February 25, 2003, you withdrew the amendment request.

The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

Summer Nuclear Station, Unit No. 1, located in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

The proposed amendment would have added an Allowed Outage Time to Table 3.3-3, Engineered Safety Features Actuation System Instrumentation, Action 16.

The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on July 23, 2002 (67 FR 48221). However, by letter dated February 25, 2003, the licensee withdrew the proposed change.

For further details with respect to this action, see the application for amendment dated June 27, 2002, and the licensees letter dated February 25, 2003, which withdrew the application for license amendment.
