RECEIPT AND AVAILABILITY OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3, AND QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Skolds:
On January 3, 2003, the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Exelon Generation Companys combined application for renewal of Operating Licenses DPR-19 and DPR-25 for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, respectively, and for renewal of Operating Licenses DPR-29 and DPR-30 for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, respectively. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 2.101, and will notify you of the results of our review. A schedule for the review will be provided at the time the application is determined acceptable for docketing.
We have enclosed, for your information, a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
I am the project manager for the review of your license renewal application. I can be reached at 301-415-1392. Please send me a copy of all license renewal correspondence.
Mr. Louis Wheeler is the project manager responsible for the review of the environmental report section of your application, and he can be reached at 301-415-1444. Mr. Lawrence Rossbach continues to remain responsible for NRC project management of all issues other than license renewal for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3. Likewise, Mr. Carl Lyon continues to remain responsible for NRC project management of all issues other than license renewal for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3.

DPR-19, DPR-25, DPR-29, AND DPR-30 FOR AN ADDITIONAL 20-YEAR PERIOD DOCKET NOS. 50-238, 50-249, 50-254, AND 50-265 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) has received an application, dated January 3, 2003, from the Exelon Generation Company, LLC, filed pursuant to Section 104b of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew Operating License Nos. DPR-19, DPR-25, DPR-29, and DPR-30 for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, and the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, respectively. Renewal of the licenses would authorize the applicant to operate each of the facilities for an additional 20-year period. The current operating licenses for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, expire on December 22, 2009, and January 12, 2011, respectively. Both of the current operating licenses for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, expire on December 14, 2012. The Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, are boiling-water reactors designed by General Electric Company and are located in Grundy County, Illinois. The Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, are also boiling-water reactors designed by General Electric Company, and are located in Rock Island County, Illinois.
The acceptability of the tendered application for docketing and other matters, including an opportunity to request for a hearing, will be the subject of a subsequent Federal Register notice.
