MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - REGULATORY PERFORMANCE - OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION - DOCKET NOS. 50-269, 50-270, 50-287
Dear Mr. Jones:
This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Jim Weast of your staff and myself, on January 6, 2003, concerning a Regulatory Performance meeting which has been scheduled for January 23, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the results of the supplemental inspection performed to assess your corrective actions associated with a WHITE finding related to containment closure controls during reduced reactor coolant system inventory conditions in Unit 1 and a White Performance Indicator related to unavailability of the 1B motor driven emergency feedwater pump. The supplemental inspection was completed on November 8, 2002, and the results were reported in NRC Supplemental Inspection Report 50-269,270,287/02-14, dated December 5, 2002. The location of the meeting will be onsite (7800 Rochester Highway, Seneca, SC) in the World of Energy Center.
This meeting is an open meeting as per "Staff Meetings Open to the Public; Final Policy Statement" (September 20, 2000; 65 FR 56964). This meeting is designated as a Category 1 meeting in accordance with Commission Policy. As such, meetings in this category are typically held with one licensee to discuss particular regulatory issues regarding their specific facility. At this type of meeting, the NRC anticipates that the public would obtain factual information to assist in their understanding of the applicable regulatory issues and NRC actions.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and the inspection report will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
