Dear Mr. Hinnant:
This refers to the closed Security Technical/Management meeting that was conducted at the Region II Office of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on August 26, 2002, at the request of Progress Energy, to discuss changes in security as a result of the NRC Orders issued on February 25, 2002. A list of meeting attendees is enclosed. The specifics of the site security information discussed at the meeting is considered sensitive and/or safeguards information, therefore, a copy of the presentation materials are not enclosed.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial, in that members of the Region II security staff were informed of Progress Energys security organizational structure and recent security changes implemented at the Carolina Power and Light Company and Florida Power Corporation Nuclear Plants.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
