VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY RICHMOND, VIRGINIA 23261 April 3, 2002 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Gentlemen:
VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT 2 STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSPECTION REPORT Serial No.:
NLOS/mm Docket No.:
License No.:
Planned inservice inspection of the Surry Unit 2 "A" steam generator was completed during the Spring 2002 Refueling Outage.
In accordance with Surry Power Station Technical Specification 4.19.F.a, this letter provides notification of the number of steam generator tubes that were plugged during the outage.
Steam Generator "A" One tube (R1 1, C24) was plugged based on the review of the current inspection data, evaluations required by the S/G Program Plan, and updated industry information as referenced in the pre-outage assessment. None of the indications in Tube Ri 1, C24 exceeded the 40% through-wall plugging limit. Tube Ri 1, C24 was administratively plugged based upon the projected growth rate and the fact that the anti-vibration bar (AVB) wear indication was at a non-typical location. The wear indication was related to the tip of the AVB contacting the tube.
No new commitments are being made as a result of this letter.
