SUBJECT:

Revision to Relief Request on Alternative Testing for Ion Exchanger Room 62 and Purification Filter Vault This letter revises the Alternative Testing section of Item 3, "Ion Exchanger Room 62 and Purification Filter Vault," of Omaha Public Power District's (OPPD's) revised relief request submitted in Reference 2. In response to NRC requests made during a phone call on August 14, 2003, OPPDis-changing the frequency of inspection for piping in this area from "every 10 years (once per interval)" to "e 4(fl4-mwthYs(once eriod." Theh revised frequency is in

'All other aspects of the relief request of Reference 2 remain valid and unchanged -this submittal. Piping in this area is Class 3 and the normal VT-2 inspection requirement frequeny is each period (Table IWD-2500-1). The subject piping is small bore (< 3 inches) operated at low pressure (< 240 psia). Planning is in progress to perform VT-2 inspection of the area's piping and components during the 2003 Refueling Outage to establish an inspection baseline.

One attribute of the baseline inspection is to identify the presence of any carbon steel fasteners in piping system connections.
