- aware, IIVestinghouse has revised the ECCS evaluation model procedure by which the core flooding rate information generated by the WREFLOOD code is introduced into the BART heat transfer coefficient calculation.
Reanalysis of the Turkey Point Units 3 and 0 ECCS performance utilizing the revised procedure resulted in a higher peak clad temperature (PCT) than the previously calculated PCT of 1972DF.
As reported to the NRC by Westinghouse in a March 22, 1985 letter to Mr. D.
G. Eisenhut, and as discussed at the prehearing conference of March 26, 1985, the new calculated PCT for Turkey Point Units 3 and 0 is 2051 F. This value is well below the 10 CFR 50.06 limit of 2200o.
Analyses using the FLECHT correlation in lieu of the BART code had confirmed that the acceptance criteria in 10 CFR 5046 had been met (PCT of 2130OF vs. the 2200 limit).
