Docket No. 50-335 Auxiliary Feedwater S stem Modifications Our letter L-81-416, dated September 22, 1981, described our progress in implementing the modifications to the Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW) that were committed to for NUREG-0737.
At that time we were planning to install the AFW Logic Cabinet which incorporates automatic isolation of a faulted steam generator, during the next refueling outage (Spring 1983).
- However, as discussed with your staff, we now intend to postpone installation of the Logic Cabinet until the following refueling outage (Fall 1984).
The purpose of this delay is to allow the system to be fully tested on St. Lucie Unit 2, which is currently undergoing startup testing.
It is our opinion that testing and troubleshooting the Logic Cabinet would be simpler and safer on our non-operating unit.
The Logic Cabinets are essentially the same for both units, and therefore, the testing and troubleshooting experience on Unit 2 will be beneficial to Unit l.
