FPL OCT 0 8 2003 L-2003-259 10 CFR 50.4 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk -
Washington, DC 20555 RE: Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Control Room Habitability Generic Letter 2003-01 60-Day Response - Supplement By letter L-2003-212, dated August 11, 2003, Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) provided its 60-day response to Generic Letter (GL) 2003-01, Control Room Habitability, for Turkey Point Units3 and 4. The purpose of this letter is to supplement FPL's response based on the results of the control room envelope (CRE) testing completed on August 20, 2003.
Turkey Point completed maintenance activities to address CRE potential deficiencies and performed the CRE test using the methods of American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E471, Standard Test Method for Determining Air Change in a Single Zone by Means of a Tracer Gas Dilution. The results of the test successfully confirmed the current design basis in-leakage assumptions for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4. Therefore, Turkey Point
- will provide the requested information by the required December 9, 2003 180-day GL response date. As such, submittal of proposed license amendments to adopt the 10 CFR 50.67 alternative source term (AST) methodology for assessing the radiological consequences of design basis events is not required to meet the GL commitment.
If you have any questions, please contact Walter Parker at (305) 246-6632.
