RESPONSE TO NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-498/97-24; 50-499/97-24
Dear Mr. Cottle:
Thank you for your lotter of January 21,1998, in response to our December 22,1997, letter and Notice of Violation concerning failures to: 1) take prompt action to correct known setpoint deficiencies; 2) void a superseded uncertainty calculation affecting a surveillance procedure; 3)

assure that the appropriate uncertainty assumptions were factored into procedures requiring the use of measuring and test equipment; 4) amend auxiliary power load study calculations in

accordance with procedures; and 5) update the safety analysis report to reflect revised refueling

water storage tank level calculations. We have reviewed your reply and find it responsive to the concerns raised in our Notice of Violation.
However, we noted that you did not provide a commitment completion date for

Violation 50-382/9724-05. Based on a telephone conversation with Mr. S. Head of your staff, we understand you will complete your described corrective action for this violation by Ap.-il 15, 1998. If our understanding of this completion date is incorrect, please notify us promptly. We will review the implementation of your corrective actions duiing a future inspection to determine
