This refers to the August 2", 1990, letter from Hr. D. H. Crutchfield to you transmitting the results of the Safety System Functional Inspection (SSFI) of the essential service water system at the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2.
The inspection was conducted during the period of June ll through July 13, 1990, and was documented in Reports Ho. 50-315/90201; No. 50-316/90201.
The letter also transmitted nine items classified as unresolved, and stated that the regional office would review these findings to determine what enforcement may be required.
We have completed our review of these items.
Certain of them appear to be violations as described in the attached Notice.
A written response is required.
In, addition, three of the Unresolved Items (Ho. 90201-03, 90201-04, and 90201-09)
will remain unresolved pending the results of your operability determination and our evaluation of your inservice testing program.
We also request that you respond to these items within thirty days of the date of this letter.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Hanagement and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
In accordance with 2i790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter, the enclosure, and your response to this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this matter.
