NORTH ANNA AND SURRY POWER STATIONS - ADDENDUM TO NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-338/02-10, 50-339/02-10, 50-280/02-10 AND 50-281/02-10
Dear Mr. Christian:
The purpose of this letter is to correct information in the subject inspection report regarding the description of your future plans for inservice inspection of reactor vessel internals. The following additional text should have been included in paragraph 2, ISI of the subject inspection report.
Section II.A.1 of NRC Inspection Report 50-280, 281, 338, 339/2002-009 states that Dominion would perform a one-time focused inspection of RV internals for one unit at each site between year 30 and the end of the current operating license. Dominion personnel subsequently pointed out that the commitment as stated in the LRA Section B.2.2.15, Reactor Vessel Internals Inspections, is to perform the inspection "......
between year 30 and the end of the current operating license on the single Surry or North Anna reactor determined to be the most susceptible to the aging effects identified" and ".....The results of the inspections will determine the need for inspections of the other reactors." After re-review of the LRA, the inspectors agree that the commitment was the inspection of a single Unit as stated by the applicant.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
