NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-269/98-08, 50-270/98-08. 50-287/98-08 AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Dear Mr. McCollum:
On September 5. 1998. the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed an integrated inspection at your. Oconee 1. 2. and 3 reactor facilities.
The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
- During the six-week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of activities at the Oconee facilities was generally characterized by -safety conscious operations, maintenance. and engineering practices. However, a violation of NRC requirements is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice). and the circumstances surrounding the violation are described in
.detail in the enclosed report.
The NRC has concluded that information regarding the reason for the violation the corrective actions taken and planned to correct the violation and prevent recurrence is already adequately addressed on the docket in Licensee Event Report 50-269/98-011 dated September 17. 1998.
Therefore. you are not.
required to respond to this letter unless the description therein does not accurately reflect your corrective actions or your position. - In that case, or if you choose to provi-de additional information. you should follow the instructions specified in the enclosed Notice.
Also, during the inspection period, the NRC received your response dated August 12. 1998. to Notice of Violations 50-269.270.287/98-06-01 98-06-06, 98-06-08. 98-06-09, 98-06-10, and 98-06-11. We have evaluated your response
.and found that it meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201.
We will examine the implementation of your corrective actions during future inspections.
