Exit Interview The inspector met with a licensee representative (denoted in Paragraph 1)
at the conclusion of the inspection on October 29, 1981.
The inspector summarized the scope and findings of the inspection.

MC 85102B - Material Control and Accounting a.
Facility Organization and Operation No items of noncompliance noted.
The inspection results were attained through a review of various procedures and discussions with licensee

personnel.
The inspector's review of the licensee's written procedures included
" Manual of Procedures and Instructions Related to Accountability For Soarce, Special Nuclear and Certain Other Materials," Revision 9-78.

The licensee is authorized to possess and use special nuclear material (SNM) in the operation of the reactor and in teaching and research at campus laboratories, the Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts, and the William H. Bates Linear Accelerator Laboratory in Middleton, Massachusetts.
The inspector noted the extension of the expiration date for license SNM-986 to August 31, 1982.
This extension-initiated action toward combining all MIT SNM activities under one licensee.
Presently there are three active SNM licenses, SNM-81, SNM-83 and SNM-

l 986.
(License SNM-171, terminated September 3, 1981, has already been incorporated into SNM-986).

Shipping and Receiving No items of nonccmpliance were noted.
Inspection results were attained through review of all Forms NRC-741, Nuclear Material Transaction Reports, against criteria for completing the form, timeliness in issuance and completion and evidence of significant shipper-receiver differences. During the period October 1, 1979 through September 30, 1981, ten transactions occurred (3 receipts and 7 shipments). No discrepancies were identified during the review of these transactions.

Physical Inventory No items of noncompliance were noted. The inspection results were attained through a review of procedures, supporting data and discussions with licensee personnel. During the previous material control and accounting inspection (No. 79-03), the licensee agreed to revise their l.
physical inventory procedures.
Specific changes that were to be l
included in these' procedures were:
1)
Beginning.and ending times for inventories.
2)
30-day completion time for inventory reconciliation.
The inspector's review of the procedures disclosed that the above i
changes wer + included in Section 10, " Physical Inventory Procedures and Control," Revision 12-79.
