Florida Bureau of Radiation Control (
BRC) via email and phone:
On February 23, 2026, at 1731 CST, BRC was notified by the licensee's radiation safety officer (RSO) of a damaged moisture density gauge incident. An in-use Troxler soil moisture density gauge model 3430 was run over by a bulldozer at the construction site of a new apartment complex located in Pensacola, FL.
The RSO states that the area has been cordoned off and on-site personnel are ensuring that no one approaches the area until he arrives. The gauge was run over while the rod was deployed. The entire apparatus is crushed flat with the level of the ground.
Personnel from the BRC are responding to the site, and a report update is anticipated.

The following update was provided by the Florida Bureau of Radiation Control (BRC) via email:
A final investigation report was received on 3/4/2026. The gauge was transferred on 2/23/2026 to Laboratory Technical Services, LLC in Milton, FL, license # 3734-1, for proper disposal with InstroTek, which accepts other manufacturers gauges for disposal.
