On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an order (Reference 1) to Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M), the licensee for the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant (CNP)

Units 1 and 2. Reference 1 was immediately effective and directed I&M to establish reliable spent fuel pool level instrumentation. Specific requirements are outlined in Attachment 2 of Reference 1.

Reference 1 required submission of an Overall Integrated Plan (OIP) and status reports at six-month intervals. By Reference 2, I&M provided the OIP for CNP. Reference 3 provided the first six-month status report. Reference 4 provided an NRC Interim Staff Evaluation and Requests for Additional Information. Reference 5 provided the second six-month status report and responses to some of the information requests included in Reference 4. Responses to the remainder of the Reference 4 information requests were posted on the CNP Fukushima e-portal. This letter provides the third six-month status report. to this submittal provides an affirmation. Enclosure 2 provides an update of milestone accomplishments, including any changes to the compliance method, schedule, or need for relief and the basis, if any.

1 Introduction Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M), the licensee for Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant (CNP),

developed an Overall Integrated Plan (OIP) (Reference 1) documenting the requirements to install reliable spent fuel pool level instrumentation in response to Reference 2. This enclosure provides an update of milestone accomplishments. There are no changes to the compliance method, schedule, or need for relief/relaxation at this time.

2 Milestone Accomplishments The following milestone(s) have been completed since the development of the OIP, and are current as of July 31, 2014.

  • Complete Design - Two Engineering Changes will be used to install components required for compliance with Order EA-12-051. Both Engineering Changes, EC-53083 and EC-52892 have been issued.

" Receive Electronics - Electronic components were received from the vendor on July 17, 2014.

  • Commence Installation - Installation activities commenced in March 2014.

3 Milestone Schedule Status The following table provides an update to the milestone schedule supporting the OIP. This section provides the activity status of each item, and the target completion date, noting any changes. The dates are planning dates subject to change as design and implementation details are developed.

Responses to the Requests for Additional Information included in the Interim Staff Evaluation (ISE), transmitted by Reference 3, were provided in the second six-month status report (Reference 4) or posted on the CNP Fukushima e-portal.

7 Potential Draft SE Impacts I&M has identified no potential impacts on the Reference 3 ISE.
