3 88-006 Cil VALV0P While decreasing power to troubleshoot 4 voltage regulator f or main generator, the unit tripped due to failure of the main feedwater block valve to the "B" steam generator to fully close. The resulting feedwater upset caused the trip (Higle RCS Pressure).

The failure of the valve was caused by a broken stem nut in the Limitorque Operator.

SUMMARY

STATEMENT:

Crystal River Unit 3 experienced an automatic reactor trip on February 28, 1988.

During the remainder of the month the plant reduced load for one condenser tube leak and foi condenser temperature limitations.
