OPERAT'NG LICENSE DPR-54 DOCKE1 No. 50-312 REPORTABLE OCCURRENCE 81-40 in accordance with Technical Specification Appendix B, Sect on 2.3 i

and Section 5.6.2.c, the Sacramento Municipal Utility Dist rict hereby submi ts a ten-day report of Reportable Occurrence 81-40.

On August 31, 1981, during an end-of-month review of plant water quality records it was learned that the total dissolved solid limit of 34,000 pounds had been exceeded (35,200 pounds of dissolved solids had been discharged). There are high conductivity alarms (indicating high dissolved solids) on the plant effluent inlet and outlet. They did not alarm because the concentration of dissolved solids was within allowable limits. There is also an integrated flow / dissolved solids indication on the plant effljent outlet, but it is not alarmed.

The District is looking into the possibility of installing an alarm on the integrated flow indication. The operators will review this report to prevent any recurrence of this event.

pQ I

The plant operated at full power, unaf fected by this event.
