Identification of Occurrence: High groundwater alarm was received in the Control Room (WZ System)
Condition Prior to Occurrence: Mode 5, Cold Shutdown Description of Occurrence: A ground water level transmitter activated a high level alarm at 1615 hours0.0187 days <br />0.449 hours <br />0.00267 weeks <br />6.145075e-4 months <br /> on May 8, 1981. Level was 0.25 feet above slab ele-vation.
This high level required increased surveillance per Technical Speci-fication 4.7.13(b).
Level was monitored at the accessible interior groundwater level monitoring stations.
The alarm cleared at 1720 hours0.0199 days <br />0.478 hours <br />0.00284 weeks <br />6.5446e-4 months <br /> on May 8, 1981.
Apparent Cause of Occurrence:
The apparent cause of the alarm was localized temporary high groundwater level.
Analysis of Occurrence: When the high level alarm was received, the proper surveillance was conducted, and within one hour the alarm cleared.
Corrective Action
No corrective action is required.
Safety Analysis
This event did not endanger the health or safety of the public.
If it had occurred while the plant was at power and remained in the alarmed con-dition for seven days, plant shutdown would have been required.
