Items of Interest Week Ending September 3, 2021 Nuclear Energy Institute Issued Technology Inclusive Guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors On August 30, 2021, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) issued NEI 21-07, Revision 0, Technology Inclusive Guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors Safety Analysis Report Content for Applicants Utilizing NEI 18-04 Methodology, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21250A380) to support ongoing interactions with the NRC staff on the development of the application guidance for advanced reactors, using the Licensing Modernization Project (LMP) process endorsed in Regulatory Guide 1.233, Guidance for a Technology-Inclusive Risk-Informed, and Performance-Based Methodology to Inform the Licensing Basis and Content of Applications for License, Certifications, and Approvals for Non-Light Water Reactors,(ADAMS Accession No. ML20091L698). The NRC staff plans to review this report and develop a list of exceptions and clarifications that will be needed for future NRC endorsement, which staff will then discuss with stakeholders and the Advisory Committee for Reactor Safeguards. The final regulatory guidance will support the near-term advanced reactor applicants under Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)

Parts 50 and 52, and support the 10 CFR Part 53 rulemaking effort (NRC Advanced Reactor Website).

NRC Hosted Public Meeting with Arizona Public Service Regarding the Risk-Informed Process for Evaluations On September 1, 2021, the NRC staff held a pre-submittal meeting with Arizona Public Service Company (APS) to discuss an exemption using the newly approved Risk-Informed Process for Evaluations (RIPE). The exemption is for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3, and is related to 10 CFR 50.62, Requirements for reduction of risk from anticipated transients without scram (ATWS) events for light-water-cooled nuclear power plants. The purpose of the meeting was to gather information about the proposed exemption request and to provide additional guidance and logistics related to RIPE.

On August 27, 2021, Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) numbers 31310021A0006, 31310021A007, and 31310021A008 were awarded to Northramp LLC, in Reston, VA; Code Plus Inc. of Fairfax, VA; and IT Concepts, Inc. of Vienna, VA. The purpose of the multiple award BPAs is to provide the NRC with a broad range of Information Technology and Information Management (IT/IM) technical and professional support services. The period of performance is from August 30, 2021, through August 29, 2028, with no option periods. The total combined potential value of all three BPAs can be up to $140,000,000.

Contract Awarded for NRC Headquarters Facilities Building Operation and Maintenance On August 30, 2021, contract number GS06Q16BQDS107/31310021F0117 was awarded to Tower Facility Management, LLC, in Columbia, MD. The purpose of this contract is to acquire services for operation and maintenance of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commissions headquarters facilities. The period of performance is from September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022, with four (4) option periods. The total potential value of the contract can be up to

$15,664,547.52.

Contract Awarded for Business Process Automation Tools and Related Services On August 31, 2021, contract number 31310021D0005 was awarded to Koniag Management Solutions, LLC, in Anchorage, AK. The purpose of this contract is to develop and maintain information technology (IT) applications using FedRAMP-authorized low code/no code business process automation and application development cloud services in order to automate NRCs existing and future business process management needs. The period of performance is from September 30, 2021, through September 29, 2024, with two (2) option periods. The total potential value of the contract can be up to $20,000,000.

Contract Awarded for Sign Language and Transcription Services On August 31, 2021, contract number 31310021C0020 was awarded to Translation Excellence, Inc. in Aurora, CO. The purpose of this contract is to procure various sign language services for NRC staff, job applicants, and the general public at NRC public meetings or other NRC-sponsored events. The period of performance is from September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022, with no option periods. The total potential value of the contract can be up to
