No: I-16-002 January 28, 2016 CONTACT: Diane Screnci 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan 610-337-5331 NRC Assigns New Resident Inspector To Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Justin Heinly as the new NRC Senior Resident Inspector at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in Delta, Pa. He joins NRC Resident Inspector Brian Smith at the site, operated by Exelon Nuclear.

Justin Heinlys training and commitment to safety will help the NRC in its mission of protecting people and the environment by helping assure that Peach Bottom continues to meet the high standards set by the agency, NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman said.

Most recently, Heinly was the resident inspector at Three Mile Island in Middletown, Pa. He joined the NRC in June 2007 after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. He is a graduate of the NRCs Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program, a two-year training program that provides specialized training in nuclear safety and a broad perspective of NRC regulatory activities. Heinly also has worked as a reactor engineer in the Region I office.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
