Title | Notification of an Unusual Event Due to a Seismic Event |
Event Description | On 8/23/11 at 1400 hrs. EDT, Hope Creek and Salem generation stations declared a common site Unusual Event in accordance with EAL 9.5.1.a due to an earthquake felt by onsite personnel within the protected area. The plants are [both] operating at 100% power with no significant anomalies noted. Walkdowns of safety related areas are currently in progress. All ECCS systems are available and in standby alignment.
The licensee has notified the NRC Resident Inspector and state and local authorities. (See also EN #47192).
Walkdowns are in progress and are approximately 40% complete with no anomalies noted. Estimated completion time of 1900 hrs. The licensee has notified the NRC Resident Inspector. Notified R1 IRC (Dentil).
Hope Creek and Salem have terminated their Notification of Unusual Event. The licensee has notified the NRC Resident Inspector and state and local authorities. Notified R1DO (Krohn), IRD (Morris), DHS (Bean), FEMA (Via), USDA (Kraus), and DOE (Turner). |
