%,....*,/ JAN 0 91985 Ms. Margaret Engel, Staff Writer The Washington Post 1150 15th Street, NW IN RESPONSE REFER Washington, DC 20071 TO F01A-84-789
Dear Ms. Engel:
This is in response to your letter dated October 4, 1984, in which you requested copies of all inspections the NRC has made of medical facilities in Washington, DC (Region I Office), Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland (an agreement state) and in Arlington and Fairfax counties in Virginia (Region II Office) from 1981 until October 4, 1984. You also stated you are interested in the inspection reports, all citations and any payment of fines that resulted from the monitoring done by the NRC's radiological health officers.
In response to your request the documents listed on Appendix A are being placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR),1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC where they will be available for public inspection and
-copying pursuant to NRC Regulation 10 CFR 9.14 (copy enclosed).
On December 13, 1984, Mr. Frank W. Karas of my staff was unable to reach you by telephone to inform you that we located 945 pages of docu. ants subject to your request. In accordance with our regulations, our charge for reproducing copies for direct response to you would amount to $66.15 (945 pages at $0.07 per page = $66.15). Since this amount exceeds the
$25.00 limit stated in your letter, we are placing the collection of documents in the PDR, located near your office, where you can examine them and decide, on an individual basis, which particular documents you want copied at $0.07 per page in accordance with NRC Regulation 10 CFR 9.14.
This completes action on your request.
