RIVER BEND STATION - ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF READINESS FOR INFREQUENT INSPECTION
Dear Phil Hansett:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Report 05000458/2022004 dated February 1, 2023, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS]
Accession No. ML23031A228), identified that from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, the NRC issued three severity level IV (SL IV) traditional enforcement violations associated with impeding the regulatory process and informed you that the NRC was evaluating whether performance of additional non-baseline inspection procedures was warranted. Subsequently, in the Annual Assessment Letter for River Bend Station - Report 05000458/2022006, dated March 21, 2023, (ADAMS Accession No. ML23055B075), and the Updated Inspection Plan for River Bend Station Report 05000458/2023005, dated August 21, 2023, (ADAMS Accession No. ML23229A568), you were informed that the Regional Administrator authorized an additional non-baseline inspection using Inspection Procedure 92723, Follow up Inspection for Three or More Severity Level IV Traditional Enforcement Violations in the Same Area in a 12-Month Period. In the Annual Assessment Letter for River Bend Station - Report 05000458/2024006, dated March 11, 2025, (ADAMS Accession No. ML25065A050), the NRC noted that from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, the NRC issued three traditional enforcement SL IV violations associated with impeding the regulatory process. In the same correspondence, you were again informed that the Regional Administrator authorized a non-baseline inspection using Inspection Procedure 92723. Additionally, we informed you that the scope of this inspection will include the twelve SL IV violations issued between September 30, 2022, and December 31, 2024.
This letter is to acknowledge your letter dated March 31, 2025, (ADAMS Accession No. ML25090A308), regarding River Bend Stations readiness for the performance of the infrequent inspection per Inspection Procedure 92723. Following coordination with River Bend Station, this inspection has been scheduled for July 14-18, 2025. Please contact Douglas Dodson at (817) 200-1148 with any questions concerning the details of this inspection.
