'inrrative Report for T. E R 50-366/1980-of,6 At the tine of the occurrence (0420 CnT on 4-22-80) the uni t was in the neartup nnd hot standby mode nt 240 negawnttn (thernn1) following the vent hender deflector and surveillance outnge.

'Jh i l e performing surveillance procedure 11 N P 3 4 0 5,

""CIC l' u ri p Opernbility", the RCIC valve 2E51-9045 was operated causing spurioun IIPC T auto isolation, thereby m a k i n e, IIP C T a

inop.

It was evident that a spike e n ti s e d the auto isolation niuce

~he isointion cleared following initintion.

At the time of thi. spurious iso 16 tion a ground existed on the P fl portion of nLation hattery 2A which was determined to be in circuits 17 nnd 27 in DC distribution enhinet 2R25-S001.

Circuit 17 supplies control power for n 11PC T auto isolation signal, upon further investigation, a cabic going to RCTC valve 2E51 r045 uns found to S r. v e an intermittent ground also.

This intermittent ground appenred only upon operation of 2E51-F045 m a k i n e, it essentially a ground spike.

The cumulative effect of the ground n circuit 17 and the ground spike caused n liPCT nuto isointion signal to initiate.

The grounds on circuits 17 nnd 27 were repaired n11ouing operation of the RCIC valve 2E51-F045 without causing a 11 P C I nuto isointion.

the problem is not applicable to IJnit 1,

since"no battery grounds exist on the same circuit on IIn i t 1.

The unit is nov in full comp 1innce with the requirements, and no further reporting is requirad.
