SUBJECT: CERTIFICATES AND REVISED FORMAT FOR REACTOR OPERATOR AND SENIORREACTOR OPERATOR LICENSES (GENERIC LETTER NO. 83-06)In October 1982, the Comnission approved a proposal to issue Certificatesto Reactor Operators and Senior Reactor Operators. These Certificates willbe suitable for framing and will be issued to all present and future ReactorOperators and Senior Reactor Operators. At the time of the original licensing, and at license renewal, a standardletter will be sent to each licensed individual, as well as to the plantmanagement, providing details of the license. This letter will constitutethat person's authorization to perfonn licensed duties. The nuclear Industry has long recognized that obtaining an RO or SRO licenseconstitutes a significant technical achievement to which one can point withpride. We hope these Certificates will be a small step in fostering a senseof professionalism and pride in these very critical positions.
