ACDENCUM TO DIRECTCR'S DECISICH UNDER 10 CFR 2.206 On January 9,1981, the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation issued a Director's Decision pursuant to 10 CFR 2.206 which denied a petition of the Carolina Environmental Study Group submitted on January 28, 1979. That petition requested that the Comission re-examine certain issues related to the Catawba Nuclear Station of the Duke Power Company.
A portion of the Staff's review was unintentionally omitted from that decision.
Specifically, with respect to the Staff's examination of special circumstances 1/
which might warrant consideration of serious accidents
, the Staff considered
" man-made or natural hazards".

The Safety Evaluation Reper:- issued at the Ccnstruction Permit stage, states the staff conclusion that there are no industrial, transportation, or etlitary facilities in the area of the site wnich have potential to adversely affect plant safety systems.
The staff review speciffrally ensured that station design is adecuate to acccerodate other natural characteristics of the site envirces.
The staff review has'not icentified any unusual circumstances with respect to natural or can-mace ha:ards that would warrant recpening or expanding proceedings en Catawba.

3-be filed with the Secretary of the Comission for review by the Comission in accordance with 10 CFR 2.206(c) of the Comission's regulations. As provided in 10 CFR 2.206(c), this Addendum will constitute the final action of the Comission twenty-five (25) days after the date of issuance, unless the Comission on its own motion institutes a review within that time.
