APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Consolidated Edison Company Docket'No. 50-247 Indian Point Unit 2 License No. DPR-26 As a result of the inspection conducted on November 1-30, 1982, and in accordance with NRC Enforcement Policy 47 FR 9987 (March 9, 1982), the following violation was identified:
Technical Specification 6.12.1.6 requires that each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation is greater than 1000 mrem /hr shall be pro-vided with locked doors to prevent unauthorized entry into such areas.
Contrary to the above, on November 9, 1982, the hallway to the waste hold-up tank area, a high radiation area with a radiation intensity greater than 1000 arem/hr, was not locked and did not prevent unauthorized entry.
This is a Severity Level V Violation (Supplement IV).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Consolidated Edison Company of New York Inc., is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice, a written statement or explan-ation in reply, including:
(1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the msults achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance sill be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending your response time.
