Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50 h h License No. NPF-13 File: 0765/0260/0272/0092 Inspection of the CGNS Training Program AECM-84/0045 The NRC conducted a routine inspection on October 31 through November 4, 1983, of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, and noted several deviations from the training program. As a result of this inspection, MPSL removed from licensed duties three individuals who exhibited deficiencies during plant walkthroughs and one recently licensed individual with qualification card signoff deficiencies.

As you are aware, MP&L initiated an Operato-Recertification Program in mid-November, 1983, and began orally re-examining all NRC licensed operators on Grand Gulf Systems. The operators were divided into two groups, with one group assigned on-shift and one group assigned to the program full-time. The first group is essentially complete with their recertification.

Three operators, having the below listed license serial numbers, were renoved from licensed duty in early November, 1983, and were included in the first group of candidates beinF qualified.

The status of completion of total l

recertification for subject operators is as follows:

OP-6239 Systems Qualification complete.

Practical Factors complete.

Procedure Qualification (ONEP's, EP's and 10I's) Complete.

Operator Training Evaluation Board (OTEB)

Successful review of training records.

o o Successful evaluation of independent, General Electric examiner.

o Successful evaluation of ability.
