Dear Mr. Hinnant:

On January 30. 1998.' the NRC completed an inspection at your Brunswick reactor
l
facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the week of January 26-30, 1998, an inspection team observed selected'
j
portions of your emergency organization's response in key facilities during
'
the emergency preparedness plume exposure exercise conducted on January 29.

The emergency response observed during the simulated accident was
j
considered satisfactory.
i
Your_ attention is directed to the exercise weakness identified in Paragraph
P 4.2.b.4 of the enclosed Inspection Report. As required by Section IV.F of
Appendix E to 10 CFR Part 50. any weakness that is identified shall be
,
corrected. Accordingly, please advise us, within 45- days of the date of this
letter, of the corrective action you have taken, or plan to take, showing the
estimated date of completion with regard to this exercise weakness.

addition. a Violation was identifed that addressed an Emergency Plan issue.
