On August 11, 1993, we conducted an Operating Reactors Events  !

Briefing (93-30) to inform senior managers from offices of the Chairman, EDO, AEOD, NRR, and regional offices of selected events that occurred since our last briefing on August 4, 1993. ,

Enclosure 1 lists the attendees. Enclosure 2 presents the '

significant elements of the discussed events. '

v Enclosure 3 contains reactor scram statistics for the week ending I August 8, 1993. Four significant events were identified for j input into the NRC Performance Indicator Program (Enclosure 4). '

(1) COUNTY OFFICIALS COULD NOT SUPPORT AN EVACUATION OF LOCAL RESIDENTS DUE TO WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS.

(2) WATER LEVELS WERE RISING.

1819 HOURS - COOPER NUCLEAR STATION-DECLARED AN UNUSUAL EVENT WHEN THE RIVER LEVEL REACHED 899 FEET, EAL.7.1.2.

NRR/DRSS INFORMED FEMA HQ BY LETTER OF COOPER NUCLEAR: STATION'S PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN. .
