NuScale Nonproprietary Response to SDAA Audit Question Question Number: A-9.5.1.2.4-1 Receipt Date: 04/10/2023 Question:

Section 9.5.1.2.4 states: Electrical conductors within the containment vessel are noncombustible or routed in conduit, and result in no intervening combustible loading for an exposure fire impacting other cable or components in the containment. Confirm whether all cables inside containment will be routed in conduit or be of noncombustible construction as well as being IEEE 383/1202 qualified cables.

Response

Combustible cables if used in containment will be routed in conduit and be IEEE 383/1202 qualified in accordance with the RG 1.189 position 4.1.3.1.

Cables in containment that are categorized as noncombustible will not be qualified per IEEE 383/1202. However, these cables will intrinsically meet the flame-propagation performance criteria of IEEE 383/1202 due to the cables noncombustible design attributes.

No changes to the SDAA are necessary.
