SUBJECT: NOTICE OF VIOLATION
(NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-325/98-01 AND 50-324/98-01) I

Dear Mr. Hinnant:

On January 30. 1998.' the NRC completed an inspection at your Brunswick reactor l
facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection. l
During the week of January 26-30, 1998, an inspection team observed selected' j
portions of your emergency organization's response in key facilities during
'
the emergency preparedness plume exposure exercise conducted on January 29. 1
1998. The emergency response observed during the simulated accident was j
considered satisfactory. i
Your_ attention is directed to the exercise weakness identified in Paragraph
P 4.2.b.4 of the enclosed Inspection Report. As required by Section IV.F of
Appendix E to 10 CFR Part 50. any weakness that is identified shall be ,
corrected. Accordingly, please advise us, within 45- days of the date of this I
letter, of the corrective action you have taken, or plan to take, showing the
estimated date of completion with regard to this exercise weakness. In i
addition. a Violation was identifed that addressed an Emergency Plan issue.
