Background===

• Issue of aluminum involvement in HEAFs is in the assessment phase of the Generic Issue (GI) process

• Planned 2020 testing currently on hold to address Working Group and stakeholder comments.

• Technical issues being addressed as part of NRC-EPRI Working Group 2

HEAF Program Status

• EPRI completed the industry survey and associated preliminary risk analysis.

• NRC completed a draft project plan, and preliminary insights and conclusions based on the tests completed to date.

• WG to finalize a detailed project plan to integrate industry survey, plant operating experience, realistic plant configurations, the PRA model, and test data.

• NRC will continue to keep the public and stakeholders informed via NRC website and public meetings.
