Dear Mr. Wakild:
In accordance with the notification requirements of NPDES Permit No. NC0007064, this is to inform you that Carolina Power & Light Company's (CP&L)
Brunswick Steam Electric Plant operated its circulating water system pumps on Unit No. 2 with less than two fine mesh screens from 08:21 on October 21,1985 to 14:05 on October 23,1985.
The 2D pump, which is equipped with fine mesh screens, was removed from service to replace fine mesh screen panels that had torn loose since the last inspection.
The 2C pump, equipped with coarse mesh screens, was placed in service during this time.
Replacement of the screens was completed and the 2D circulating water pump was returned to service at 14:05 on October 23.
