Mr. R.P. Denise, Director I Wolf Creek Task Force U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Cmmission Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Suite 1000 Arlirgton, Texas 76011 EMIRRC 85-024 Re: Docket No. STN 50-482 Ref: Interim Report EMLNRC 84-162, dated 9/20/84 Fran GLKoester, KG&E, to DRHunter, NRC Subj: Final 10CFR50.55(e) Report - Subcooling Core Monitor Alann and Caution Relays (53564-K150)

Dear Mr. Denise:

'Ihis letter provides the final report subnitted pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e; concerning the subcooling core monitor system installed at Wolf Creek Generating Station (NCGS) . 'Ihis matter was initially reported on August 21, 1984 with supplenental information provided in the Reference.

It was determined that when the 125 volt direct current power supply to the non-lE annunciator systen for the subcoolirg core monitor system is interrupted an are resulting voltage spike may occur. A voltage spike of this type could danage integrated circuits or interrupt the central processing unit of the subcooling core monitor systen. In order to alleviate this concern, interposing relays and diodes have been added to the existing systen to minimize the potential for, and suppress the effects of any arcs generated.

'Ihe aforementioned corrective actions will be conpleted prior to fuel load.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact me or Mr. ,

Otto Maynard if my staff.

Yours very truly, Hf f5 8502010525 850113 Glenn L. Koester PDR ADOCK 05000482 Vice President - Nuclear S PDR ']
