Florida Power & Light Company, 6501 S.Ocean Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 0 September 21,2004 FPL L-2004-208 10 CFR 74.13 10 CFR 74.15 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 10 CFR 2.390 Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 Re: St. Lucie Unit 1 Docket No. 50-335 Nuclear Material Inventory Pursuant to 10 CFR 74.13 and 10 CFR 74.15, Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) is submitting the nuclear material status reports for Unit 1 covering the period from August 6, 2003 to July 29, 2004. The attachment to this letter contains a printed listing of the data contained on the compact disc and a completed disc transmittal form.

By copy of this letter, a compact disc that contains the report information in computer-readable format is being sent to the Nuclear Assurance Corporation in accordance with NMMSS Report D-24.

The most significant changes in the material inventories during this period have been the fuel depletion from August 6, 2003 to the end of Cycle 18, the receipt of 76 Region AA fuel assemblies for the Cycle 19 reload, the Cycle 19 refueling transfers, and the fuel depletion from the beginning of Cycle 19 through July 29, 2004.

The attachment contains reports to NRC which contains information or records concerning FPL's accounting program for special nuclear material not otherwise designated as Safeguards Information or classified as National Security Information or Restricted Data.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 2.390(d)(1), we request that the attachment be withheld from public disclosure.
