POTENTIAL 10 CPR 50.55(e)  %% ,J SIGNIFICANT DEFICIENCY 9 NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On October 29, 1981, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr. S.

Ebneter, advising of a potential significant deficiency.

The reported potential concerns the effect of recent seismic reanalysis data upon the seismic qualification of certain equipment within the Auxiliary Building at the Hope Creek Generating Station.

The following information is submitted as an interim report in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55(e).

The Bechtel Power Corporation (PSE&G's Architect Engineer),

EDS Nuclear (PSE&G's seismic consultant), and Public Service are conducting additional studies to determine the actual impact, if any, on the Auxiliary Building equipment. The estimated completion date of the studies is June 15, 1982, at which time a final report addressing the reportability of this item will be made to the NRC.
