Subj ect: Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2'an This letter confirms verbal notification on May 22, 1981 of a condition discovered in construction which is con-sidered potentially reportable in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e) .
The condition concerns the separation of a blade from a CEDM cooling fan which was due to a fatigue crack in the area of a casting flaw at the stressed surface of the blade.
We are performing an evaluation of this condition and will submit an appropriate report in accordance with 10CFR50.55-(e)(3) if the condition is determined to be reportable. If you have any questions or require additional information, please let me know.
