A special safety inspection was conducted by NRC Region I staff members on

June 29 - July 2, and July 7-9, 1987, at the Beaver Valley Power Station

Unit 2.

The findings of the inspection were discussed with Mr. T. Noonan.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I

Inspection Report enclosed with this letter. The inspection of your

post-accident sampling and monitoring systems consisted of selective

examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with

personnel, and observations by the inspection team' members.

No violations were observed.

However, some improvement and unresolved items

are discussed in this report.

You are requested to review the items and

respond within 30 days of the date of this letter on actions planned or taken
